Alexander “Harry” Mertz, DVM

Dr. Harry Mertz is originally from Boston, MA. He received his B.S. in biology from the University of Massachusetts Boston and attended additional courses from Harvard. Afterwards, he attended Western University of Health Sciences Veterinary School and graduated in the Spring of 2024.

Growing up, Dr. Mertz lived with a multitude of animals ranging from cats and dogs to snakes, hedgehogs, parrots, and giant millipedes. He’s always been fascinated with biology, nature, and the great outdoors. During his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, scuba diving, and studying geology.
Before becoming a veterinarian, he worked in wildlife conservation and interned in UMass’s virology lab. Now, he’s passionate about surgery and client education, especially in exotics.
