Jacki Smith, RVT
Jacki Smith, BS, RVT is originally from Long Island, New York. She received her AS in Business Administration from Suffolk County Community College in 1997. Her lifelong passion for helping animals and sunny weather led her to California in 1998. She received her BS in Animal Science from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2003 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2004. Her career in veterinary medicine began in 1998 while working as a Veterinary Assistant for a small dog and cat practice during the day and emergency clinic in the evenings. In 2001, her interest in working with exotic species led her to seek employment with Dr. Tom Greek, with whom she continues to work at Greek & Associates Veterinary Hospital in Yorba Linda, CA. She left Dr. Greek for a short time in 2006 to work at the Los Angeles Zoo, and is grateful for the knowledge that she gained from Zoo Medicine. Jacki has always had an interest in teaching, and knew that one day she would follow in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. She joined the team at Mt. San Antonio College in 2016, and could not be more thrilled to share her knowledge of veterinary technology. She enjoys sharing her 25+ years of stories and memories about working in animal hospitals. She prides herself as being a hard-working individual who wears multiple hats. In 2019 she accepted an additional part-time position with the Veterinary Medical Board as a Veterinary Hospital Inspector. She has inspected over 100 hospitals in Southern California, and takes pride in knowing that she is making a difference. In her “free time” she enjoys hiking, snowboarding, exercising, traveling, going to the beach, attending Chargers games, and spending time with family & friends.
